How do I feel about my slaves?
There is a common misconception that the dominatrix always has a disdain for men or her bottoms in general. Personally, I don’t enjoy playing with people I don’t like. I would rather play with someone I enjoy spending time with, have similar interests to, and who deserves the time and attention I spend with my play partners. How I do feel about my slaves then? Here are some random thoughts that came to mind…
I require their obedience and earn their respect.
I respect their discipline and encourage their growth.
I correct their mistakes and help them expand their strengths.
I accept them and understand their needs.
I simplify their lives and help them learn to focus their energy.
I learn to communicate my desires in teaching them to communicate theirs.
I feel grateful for their service and entitled to their offerings.
I show them their greatest fears, as well as their ability to overcome them.
I appreciate the amazing things they take in order to bring me pleasure.
I delight in their desire to serve me and attempt to meet their needs in return.
I enjoy their apprehension and nervous energy.
We teach each other to live in the moment.
I love them without being in love.

I agree that it is very important to realize the psychological aspects in our play. So many people spend time worrying about how to flog properly or tie someone up, and not enough exploring the psychological intentions and effect of our play. I was reading someone's rant on professional domination last night and it said some pretty harsh things about how we as an industry view our clients. It was written by someone who had recently decided to retire from an unhappy job as a Mistress, working for a 'house'. She and I had completely different experiences within this industry and I felt sad that she was never able to get the joy I get out of my work. I was examining my thoughts on her post when I rambled the above... MS B
