Frugal Kink: The 25$ toy bag.

I was teaching some boys a few new tricks last weekend and it occurred to me that I should include toy bag shopping list here. I wanted to make it affordable enough for pervs next door to be able to grab the items on a whim. I have improvised similar toy bags for impromptu scenes countless times. This is a quick list and I am sure to leave things out, so if you have suggestions for the kinksters on a budget, feel free to pass them on here. Be prepared to go exploring the local dollar, thrift, craft, grocery, hardware, auto stores and pharmacies. Use this list as a general guideline and let your kinky imagination run wild. I recommend hitting the dollar store first if your locale has one. Mix and match the items below to meet your interests.

• Rope – A good basic rope is 5/8 nylon for bondage. It is readily available at all hardware stores and some groceries. Clothesline ( Which works great for cbt/genitorture) is readily available as well. Clothesline can cut off circulation easily when used for bondage.

• Clothespins - Clothespins are used for a variety of torments all over the body. When combined with vibrators and corporal discipline the possibilities are endless. You can dye clothespins any color you wish with RIT dye to create a more custom, finished look. These usually come in packs of 100. Other clips: There are tons of different clips available in your average sundry store. Look around and be creative.

• Latex Gloves - Gloves are important for sexual health and safety. A latex glove can be cut and used in place of dental dam, if you are in a bind. They are used for sensation play and can be used to aid in “Dr” role-plays as props. Everyone recognizes the distinct snap of a latex glove and for many kinksters , that sound is all it takes to get the pervy juices flowing. For those on the serious budget I recommend heading to your local beauty supply store for these. You an get them in single pairs for .25-.50. REMEMBER TO CHANGE YOUR GLOVES WHEN MOVING FROM ASSHOLE TO PUSSY. (Giving your lover a dose of vaginitis is not the way to inspire future rendezvous.)

• Candles - White unscented paraffin candles are best suited for wax play. They are in most grocery stores with household supplies. (On the ethnic aisle with the Jesus candles you can find the tall glass pillar candles, this wax feels great going on but the candles are a bit messy. They also tend to collect a lot of soot on the glass and in the wax so be careful if your working around light colored fabric or carpet.) Always test the heat of the wax on your inner arm before dripping it on your partner. Smooth a thin layer of baby oil on the bottom before play for easy removal. To remove wax from fabric: Use ice to harden the wax and scrape off as much as possible with a dull blade. Then place a brown paper bag over it, (a section without any printing on it, the ink can bleed) and apply a warm iron. Hold it for a couple of seconds and you will see the wax melt and adhere to the sack. Repeat until it’s completely removed.
• Plastic Wrap – This stuff is great for bondage, wax play, and is better than nothing, if you do not have a dental dam. It is available in many different colors. I prefer the kind sold for packing and moving; it usually has a handle for easy application.

• Rubber Bands - These little babies work for bondage from balls to boobs and a variety of nasty sensations. You can use them in conjunction with clips and other toys to add tension or vibration, as well as keep things like rope and laces tidy. Extra think ones are especially nice for CBT.

• Duct Tape - I should own stock in this stuff for all the miles I have used of it. Duct tape is a very versatile bondage tool that can be used for mummification, arm binders, gags, and attaching someone to just about anything. I find it works best in conjunction with saran wrap for easy removal. Use extra caution during removal should it be in direct contact with the bottoms skin. It will rip layers of skin off, if you are not careful. Baby oils works well to help remove the adhesive. Always have scissors on hand when playing with tape. It can be very restrictive and difficult to remove.

• Ice - Do not forget this inexpensive kinky classic.

• Leather belt - If you don’t already have one hit your local thrift store for a variety of sizes and leathers. Studs and other adornments cause heavy bruising and are likely to break skin.( That’s not necessarily a bad thing, you just need to be aware of it. I recommend novices stick with a medium width, soft leather belt with no decorations.)

• Wooden Spoons - You can get the in various sizes for next to nothing. They work excellent for spanking and genital torment.

• Plastic Spatulas - A little more evil than the wooden spoon at a compatible price, these babies are easy to sterilize and available in a wide variety of sizes and colors.

• Wooden Dowels – These work for everything from canes to spreader bars depending on their girth. Thin ones can be held together with a rubber band for a nasty little toy. DO NOT USE THEM FOR SUSPENSION BONDAGE.

• Brushes – Brushes can be used for paddles and sensation toys depending on their size and bristle type. I have an arsenal of brushes that include everything from soft baby bristles to coarse horse grooming tools. Electric brushes create an interesting sensation, be careful of catching loose skin in bottle cleaners. Ouch!

• Wooden Skewers – Secure them at one end with a couple of rubber bands for an interesting percussion toy. They are also great for scratching and sensation play.

• Handkerchiefs – Use for blindfolds, gags or wet one end for a stingy little makeshift whip.

• Pantyhose – These can be used for bondage, ( I especially like using the ends as bondage mitts.) makeshift hoods, and making disposable zentai outfits. They are cheap and available in a variety of colors.

• Fabric, fur and scratchy stuff – Use your imagination to find all sorts of delicious sensation toys. Pieces of fur or satin, scratchy kitchen tools, emery boards, tooth brushes, cocktail forks….I could go on and on.

• Condoms – I won’t hop on my soapbox about safer sex, you should all know my feelings on that by now. These little babies are good for all sorts of stuff including bondage mitts and dental dams.

• Hot creams – tiger balm, icy hot and the like. Be sure and have some witch hazel on hand for fast removal should it get too intense. Washing with soap and water helps a little but once it is absorbed into the skin, it’s a long hard road out of hell. Always use a tiny dot to start, and build up from there. These creams are long lasting and you can capsize your fuck boat fast if you are not careful. Cinnamon oil is also great for this but you must use extra caution, it can burn delicate tissues. I recommend giving your self a dose of any cream/oil you intend to use on a partner.

• Fruits/Veggies – Use these for makeshift dildos. I recommend using a condom over any food being inserted. Potatoes can be carved to make some rather interesting sex toys. Let’s leave figging for another time but ginger is an excellent addition to this category.

My friends laugh at my ability to turn even the most mundane household tools into deviant devices of vice. Try it now. Take a look around and use your noggin’ to find 5 “pervertables” within reach, it is easier than you think.

There are a lot of good ideas in this list. I would like to suggest a couple more:

collar and leash - Your local pet store will have lots of modestly priced collars and leashes. I purchased a nice hot pink collar and leash from Pet Smart. When I went to the checkout counter, the young lady commented that she liked pink, but not many people bought pink collars. I didn't want to say I was buying it for myself, so I said I was "just following instructions" (thereby implying it was my wife's decision). Afterward's I was kicking myself (figuratively) for not saying, "Oh, I think a cute pet deserves a cute collar" (spoken with a lilting voice of course).

bamboo - Garden centers will often have bamboo shafts intended for using as stakes to help prop up plants. These are usually relatively thin and springy and make excellent canes. It is probably best to not buy ones that are stained a green color. If you break skin, you would not want to introduce the stain chemicals.

ice - Something that I thought I would someday try, but have not yet done so is this: make ice dildos. You can buy cigars that come in little dildo shaped plastic tubes. The tubes are usually rounded on one end. I would get several of these tubes, fill them with water, and using a cardboard box and a holder, set them into the freezer. Once the water freezes, I would think that holding the plastic tube under hot running water for a few seconds would melt the outer surface of the ice. This should allow the ice slide out of the tube. The result would be a perfectly shaped ice dildo. If someone tries this and it works, please let me know.

I will stop here . . .

Great list!

Add maybe a silk tie (grab an old second hand one if you don't have one already, otherwise you won't stay under $25!), great blindfold and leash.

Another fave is the shaving brush, for intimate tickling, prickling, stroking... and why not, a shave ;o)

That is an awesome list. although from what I understand, one needs to be mindful that some latex gloves aren't rated to block viruses. it's often safest to stick with the medical ones from the pharmacy.

The container with assorted-sized bungee cords would be a good addition to the list.

I was recently bound with these. They were hooked on the back of the thong I was wearing, then stretched (way far) up to hook onto posts on either side of me.

You can also wrap a section of bungee cord with duct tape to form a handle, then cut the top layer off the rest of the cord. (Remove the hooks!) Instant rubber flogger.
